Good showings at region meet

Local teams took most of the top positions at last weekend’s Region 4-AAAA cross-country meet in Fayetteville.

For the boys, McIntosh led the 10-team field followed by Starr’s Mill and Northgate. Harrison Fultz of Starr’s Mill was the top individual finisher and Northgate’s Hayden Hasberger was second. Rounding out the 5-10 spots were Connor Koscevic and Conner Reynolds of McIntosh, Nick Nyman of Starr’s Mill, Andrew Tuttle of Northgate, Joshua Tysor of Starr’s Mill and Zach Jaeger of McIntosh.

In the seven-team girls’ field, Union Grove took the team title with the next three spots going to Starr’s Mill, McIntosh and Northgate. Mary Valli of Starr’s Mill was the top individual finisher while Alyssa LeClaire of McIntosh was fourth, Sophie Handel of Starr’s Mill was fifth and Elise Glorvigen of Northgate was sixth.

The Region 5-AAAA and Region 5-A meets are scheduled for Saturday. The state finals are Nov. 7.
