The Fayette County Public Library invites the community to a book signing by former Fayette County resident Lucy Morgan Waller Friday, Nov. 6, at 11 a.m.

Waller will talk about her novel, “Follow the Setting Sun,” a work of adult historical fiction set during early Colonial times in Georgia. Copies of the book will be available for sale at the event, with proceeds benefiting the Friends of the Fayette County Public Library. The program is free and open to the public. Light refreshments will be served, compliments of the Friends of the Fayette County Public Library.

“Follow the Setting Sun,” though a fictional story, is set in the colonial settlement of Ebenezer, an actual early Georgia community that was populated by Austrian Lutherans fleeing religious persecution in their homeland. The author will talk about the novel’s genesis, answer questions from the audience, and sign copies of her books for purchasers.

In addition to the new novel, Waller has penned three previous books, which she will also talk about, sell, and sign.

Born and raised in Fayette County, Lucy Gay Morgan Waller was a member of the high school graduating class of 1957. She is proud to be descended from the John Murphy family, who raised eight children in the early 1900s; longtime Fayetteville residents may remember the big white house in the curve, just past where the old railroad came through town, next to the old Railroad Street. Waller herself grew up the youngest of four in that house. A retired teacher and a former preacher’s wife, she now lives near Savannah in the town of Rincon, and spends her time writing books.

The Fayette County Public Library is located behind the Fayette County administrative complex in downtown Fayetteville, at the southwest corner of Highways 85 and 54.  For additional information, contact the library at 770-461-8841.
