The Rev. David W. DeRevere, 77, of Fayetteville Georgia, died at home on the afternoon of September 22nd, 2015 surrounded by family.

    He was born in Englewood, N.J. on November 13, 1937 as the only son of the late Wilbur and Ethel DeRevere. Rev. DeRevere graduated from Colgate University and Yale University Divinity School.

    Rev. DeRevere was pastor for 22 years of the First Church of Christ in Saybrook (Congregational), Old Saybrook, Connecticut, He was a member of the Old Saybrook Volunteer Fire Department and chaplain of both the Fire Department and the Old Saybrook Police Department. He subsequently spent 18 years as Executive Director of the International Conference of Police Chaplains (ICPC), retiring in 2003. During his time with ICPC, Rev. DeRevere served as a chaplain with the Federal Bureau of Investigation.

    After retirement, Rev. DeRevere was an active volunteer at the Sacred Heart Hospital on the Emerald Coast in Destin, Florida, and the Piedmont Fayette Hospital in Fayetteville, Georgia.

    Rev. DeRevere is survived by his wife, Ellen; two sons: Mark and wife Elizabeth, and Roger and wife MaryAnn, and four grandchildren.

    A memorial service will be held on October 3rd, 2015 at 11 a.m. at Fayette Presbyterian Church. Rev. Dr. Alex Moses will be officiating. There will be a receiving line and lunch following the service.
