Just as television has the Emmy Awards for excellence in the industry, so does education with the Bammy Awards presented by the Academy of Education Arts and Sciences.

Nancy Blair, principal of Rising Starr Middle School, was selected as the winner of a Bammy Award in the “Middle School Principals” category for her outstanding work in the area of middle school leadership. She was one of five nominees chosen for the award. Winners were announced by the Academy Sept. 26 during a live-streamed showcase.

The Bammy Awards is a cross-discipline award that identifies and acknowledges the good work being done all across the education community. Members of the Academy of Education Arts and Sciences exclusively select nominees for the award. Academy members include leading educators, education professors, journalists, editors, researchers, commentators, advocates, activists, visionaries, and pioneers. Membership to the Academy is by invitation only. The Academy is comprised of a board of governors, a council of peers, and the executive committee.
