Fayette County High principal Dr. Dan Lane accepted a check from AVPRIDE in the amount of $500, a result of the 2015 Hawaiian Run Thingy. The presentation took place Sept. 22 during the Fayette County Schools Cabinet meeting.

AVPRIDE Executive Director Pam Reid and AVPRIDE Co-Founder Dawn Oparah announced Saturday, April 16, as the date for the 2016 Hawaiian Run Thingy. Last winter Fayette County school principals were given an opportunity to win some much-needed funds for their respective schools. AVPRIDE intends to host the same competition for the 2016 event.

“The Fayette County school with the highest number of registrants and participants for the 2016 Hawaiian Run Thingy will receive a $500 award,” said Reid.

Joyce Beverly, publisher of Fayette Woman and sales director of The Citizen, will continue as the event’s Honorary Chair.
