Nettie Lucille Pitts McDonald, of Fayetteville, died peacefully on August 31, 2015. She was 103 years old.

Ms. McDonald was preceded in death by her husbands, Solon J. Pitts and Kyle McDonald and son Solon J. Pitts, Jr. She is survived by her daughter Dot P. (Wallace) Kite; sons Billy W. (Shelby) Pitts and Ronald M. (Sarah) Pitts; 8 grandchildren, 11 great-grandchildren and several great-great-grandchildren.

Nettie McDonald was born on August 12, 1912, and was a mother and homemaker until age 42. At that time, she went to work at the Bibb Manufacturing Company in Bibb City, Ga. After 20 years of unbroken service, at age 62, she retired and became very active in the Senior Citizen Center of Columbus, Ga.

A Graveside Service was held Friday, September 4, 2015, at 2 p.m., at Riverdale Cemetery in Columbus, Georgia, with Pastor Mike McBride officiating. Her grandchildren, Randy Pitts, Pam Brown, Patti Pitts, Tammy Pallot, Deborah Lumpkin, Wendy Reeves, David Pitts, and Sherri Smith served as Honorary Pallbearers. The family received friends Thursday, September 3, 2015 from 6 – 7 p.m. at the Chapel of Mowell Funeral Home, Fayetteville.
