Most of Fayette and Coweta’s varsity cross-country teams opened their season last weekend in Tyrone at the Sandy Creek Classic.

On the boys’ side, Whitewater finished first as a team, with McIntosh second, Northgate fifth, Sandy Creek eighth and East Coweta ninth.

Individually, Thomas Adkins of Whitewater crossed the finish line in first place, with teammates Parker Nail and Harry Harp taking the fourth and fifth spots. Brian Doyle of McIntosh was seventh while fellow Chief Conner Reynolds came in ninth.

For the girls, Landmark’s team placed second and Northgate was fourth. McIntosh finished sixth, Whitewater seventh, Sandy Creek 11th and East Coweta 12th.

The top three individual spots went to Landmark – Kathryn Foreman, Nicole Fegans and Sarah Foreman. Coming in sixth was Ashley McMahon of Whitewater, while the 10-11-12 places went to Rachel Ward of McIntosh and the Northgate duo of Elise Glorvigen and Caroline Nelson.
