On Sept. 12 at 2 a.m. the United Methodist Men at Peachtree City United Methodist Church will light up the fire pits for the church’s 11th  annual Chicken-Que.

Earlier in the week, the front lawn of the church at 400 Windgate Road (corner of Peachtree Parkway and Windgate Road) will be converted to a 60-foot long grill ready to cook to perfection over 2,000 chicken halves for the event. Cole slaw, baked beans and bread complete the meal which is still priced at only $8.The Chicken-Que is a take-out only event and those purchasing dinners in advance don’t even have to get out of their car.

They can drive through the campus between 10:30 a.m. and 1:30 p.m. on Sept. 12 and have their hot meals handed to them. Once again this year, the UMM will be providing meals to the first responders on duty on Sept 12. Those purchasing an extra ticket will help cover the cost of a meal for a police officer or firefighter.

Proceeds from the Chicken-Que go to support the development and ongoing capital improvements of the PTCUMC Scout Lodge. The lodge is home to Scouting units from the Boy Scouts, Cub Scouts and Girl Scouts chartered by the church. Those who want to support the Scout Lodge, but cannot make it to the chicken pick-up,  can donate the purchase of their ticket to provide a meal for a first responder in Peachtree City. To purchase tickets or for more information, call the UMM hotline, 770-486-5331.
