My family has truly enjoyed our 32 years of living in what we believe is the best county in Georgia. I have had the pleasure of participating in our local community on many levels, and I want to use this opportunity to announce my desire to run for the open seat on the Fayette County Board of Commissioners, District 5.

The passing of Commissioner Pota Coston was an emotional shock to us all. We all send our prayers and deepest sympathies to the Coston Family.

I want to take my vast experience volunteering and serving in our community and carry on where Commissioner Coston left off, insuring that everyone, regardless of who they are or what they look like, is heard and well represented.

I have invested numerous years of volunteer work with the local school system and band booster programs at the middle and high school levels. The Girl Scouts was also a passion and I served in leadership locally. Through those experiences, I got to know our local families of all walks of life, developing friendships and building a sense of community.

I found great joy over the years working with Christian City Children’s Village “Chair-ity” event, Fayette Senior Services, the American Legion High School Constitution Oratory Contest, and the Peachtree City Farmers Market. Building a rapport with local leaders and community citizens helped me assist organizations that contribute to the character and quality of life of our community.

I have a strong knowledge of the government at all levels. Being an active member of the Fayette Republican Party and State Republican Committee has allowed me to communicate with our Congressmen, state leaders, Fayette commissioners and city councils on a one-to-one level. I thoroughly understand how the governmental system works and the importance of insisting on transparency in government.

Serving as a legislative liaison to Fayette GOP for federal and state legislation has reinforced my commitment to giving all citizens a voice in a system that is generally geared toward serving special interests. Advocating for common sense, balanced budgets and openness initiatives is nothing new to me.

Every Fayette County citizen should have a voice and I will listen to each one of you. I have a proven track record of taking stands on accountability and fiscal responsibility in government.

We have a great thing going in Fayette County and I will fight to preserve those things that make us a special place to live. I would be honored to be your selection for the District 5 commissioner.

I need your help with my campaign. I look forward to communicating with those whom I already know in the local government scene and community groups. I also look forward to making new friends in the process and hearing what you have to say.
