George W. Anderson, of Peachtree City, passed away on June 16, 2015, at the age of 91.

He was the son of Cecille (Young) Anderson and Oscar N. Anderson and was born in Swissvale, Pa. He graduated from the Carnegie Institute of Technology with a Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering and later obtained his Professional Engineers License. He was a member of the greatest generation, a WWII veteran of the United States Army, having served from May 1943 to January 1946. As an automatic rifleman, he saw action in the Battle of the Bulge where he was wounded and subsequently awarded the Purple Heart and the Bronze Star. His career spanned 40 years. His early years were spent in manufacturing engineering and quality assurance positions, but he was to go on and become a successful small business owner. He was especially proud of his company’s contribution to the space program.

Married for 55 years, he was a devoted and loving husband and family man. An avid outdoorsman, he enjoyed hiking, tennis and golf.

He is survived by his children Gary Anderson (Amy), Linda Peterson (John) and Carol Clark (Tom), as well as 11 grandchildren, 7 great-grandchildren, 2 nieces and a cousin.

A Memorial Service is being held Saturday, June 20, 2015, at 11 a.m. at All Saints Anglican Church, 149 Ebenezer Road, Peachtree City, Ga. 30269. The final disposition will be held in private. The family requests that in lieu of flowers, a memorial gift in his name be made to All Saints Anglican Church, P.O. Box 2169, Peachtree City, Ga. 30269.
