Aaron Scott, MIS, CNMT, NMAA, FSNMMI-TS, a nuclear medicine advanced associate at Piedmont Healthcare System in Fayetteville, has been elected as the 2015-16 president of the Society of Nuclear Medicine and Molecular Imaging Technologist Section (SNMMI-TS). The new slate of officers was introduced during the Society of Nuclear Medicine and Molecular Imaging’s (SNMMI) 2015 Annual Meeting, June 6-10, in Baltimore, Md.
“SNMMI-TS is here to serve its members,” Scott said. “I want to hear what they want. I’m proud to be working with such an amazing group of technologists, who are committed to the highest standards of care and excellence.”
The national health care agenda is increasingly focused on evidence-based medicine to ensure quality and safety. “SNMMI, including the Technologist Section, is embracing this effort wholeheartedly,” Scott states. “The Technologist Section has launched a multiyear Quality Initiative that will enhance quality through education and training, as well as raise public awareness of the safety of nuclear medicine procedures.”
Scott has held numerous leadership positions within the SNMMI-TS, including president-elect, delegate-at-large, and member of the Strategic Planning Committee. On the local level, he is involved with the Southeastern SNMMI Chapter Technologist Section and the Georgia Society of Nuclear Medicine, having served as president of both organizations. Scott also received the SNMMI-TS Outstanding Technologist Award in 2009 and was among the first class of graduates of the Nuclear Medicine Advanced Associates degree program.
Before joining Piedmont, he was a nuclear medicine advanced associate at Gwinnett Medical Center in Lawrenceville. Earlier in his career, Scott served as a nuclear medicine team leader at Children’s Healthcare of Atlanta at the Egleston and Scottish Rite Campuses in Atlanta, and as chief nuclear medicine technologist at Rockdale Medical Center in Conyers. He was also a nuclear medicine technologist at Emory University Hospital and at Decatur PET Imaging.
Scott graduated with a Bachelor of Science degree in biology, with a concentration in molecular biophysics, from Clark Atlanta University in Atlanta, Ga., and then earned a Bachelor of Science degree in nuclear medicine from the Medical College of Georgia in Augusta, Ga. He also received a Master of Imaging Sciences (nuclear medicine advanced associate) degree from the University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences in Little Rock, Ark. He is certified by the Nuclear Medicine Technology Certification Board and the Institutional Review Board.
