Coweta sets graduation events

Coweta County schools enter the final week of the 2014-15 academic year with year-end events in all Coweta schools and 2015 high school commencement ceremonies for Coweta’s graduating seniors.

The school year ends Friday, May 22.

Many high school seniors attended traditional baccalaureate services Sunday at the Centre for Performing and Visual Arts (East Coweta High), First Baptist Church of Newnan (Newnan High) and Crossroads Church (Northgate High).

The Central Educational Center’s Dual-Enrollment Graduation recognitions are Wednesday, May 20, at 7 p.m. at the Centre for Performing and Visual Arts.

This year’s high school graduation ceremonies will be held over three separate days at the Coweta County School System’s three high schools:

Newnan High, Thursday, May 21, 7:30 p.m., Drake Stadium. Valedictorian is Sarah Kristin Chapman. Salutatorian is Isabella Rose Plonk.

Northgate High, Friday, May 22, 7:30 p.m., Henry Seldon Field. Valedictorian is Haley Ann Alain. Salutatorian is Connie Michelle Hauser.

East Coweta High, Saturday, May 23, 9 a.m., Shoemake Stadium. Valedictorian is Stacie Elaine Evans. Salutatorian is Sangkyun “Sonny” Byun.
 
For East Coweta High School’s Saturday morning graduation ceremonies, the school is offering the use of buses to transport people to and from off-site parking and Shoemake Stadium. Shuttle bus service will be offered from Lee Middle School, Willis Road Elementary School, and Poplar Road Elementary School May 23. People attending graduation can park at these sites and ride buses to the campus starting at 7 a.m., and buses will continue until all participants are back at their cars. The parking sites will be staffed with deputies for security purposes and volunteers that will assist with parking vehicles.
