Karyn Staples, owner and lead physical therapist of ProHealth Physical Therapy and Pilates, will present “Sitting Pretty” at the next meeting of Business Women of Fayette and Coweta.

The meeting is Tuesday, April 28, 5:30 p.m. in Senoia.

“As humans, we sit more than we used to,” Staples said. “That puts more compression on the joints in our spine. When people come in with neck, back, spinal and shoulder pain, I’m looking at their sitting posture.”

Staples will present an interactive workshop because her top suggestion is moving more when possible. She advocates mindful movement, like Pilates, once or twice a week.  “Mindful movement is where we are aware of our bodies’ position and what we want our body to do,” she said. “It provides continual reminders for your body on how to maintain that erect posture along with improved muscle support.”

Director of Operations at Progressive Heating and Air and Business Women Marketing Chair Samantha Brazie said “we sit more today than ever before. I am very excited to hear how we can feel better while doing our day to day jobs.”

The meeting will be at Maguire’s Irish Pub in Senoia with networking and dinner beginning at 5:30 p.m. and the full meeting at 7 p.m.

Women who own, manage, or sell in business are especially encouraged to attend. First time attendees should RSVP to BWFC Secretary Sheila Rambeck at Sheila@rambecklaw.com. Returning visitors and members may RSVP via the Evite.

BWFC meets at Maguire’s in Senoia on even months. For information, visit www.bwfcc.org or contact Rambeck.
