Benjamin McGarity Lindsey was born in Carrollton, Ga. on May 24, 1957 to Rev. and Mrs. John A Lindsey.
Ben was a graduate of Hapeville High School in Fulton County, Ga. where he was in JROTC, sang in the high school chorus and played on the high school baseball team. He played softball in the College Park Recreational League and coached the women’s softball team at Fayetteville First UMC for several years. He loved NASCAR and major league baseball. He loved music and sang in the church choir and with local groups Cornerstone and Southern Nights Chorale in Fayetteville,Ga.
Ben discovered a love for driving big rigs and had driven for Melton Truck Lines, Inc. and was most recently employed with Steelman Transportation.
Ben had a big personality and never met a stranger. He gave big hugs and loved to laugh.
He is preceded in death by his father, Rev. John A. Lindsey and his oldest son, Christopher Michael Lindsey.
He is survived by his mother, Elizabeth M. Lindsey; son, Justin Aaron Lindsey; brother, Brian (Nancy) Lindsey; niece, Amanda (Dustin) McDonald; nephews Eric and Jason Lindsey; cousins and a multitude of friends.
His funeral service was Monday, March 16, 2015 at Fayetteville First United Methodist Church, with Rev. Mark Westmoreland and Rev. Bob Partridge officiating. The family received friends on Sunday, March 15, 2015 at Mowell Funeral Home, Fayetteville, Ga.
