Coweta County received some good news recently when it was announced that the county leads the west Georgia region in job growth.
The announcement came with the presentation of the West Georgia Regional Outlook at the Economic Forecast Breakfast at the Center for Business and Economic Research at the University of West Georgia.

“Coweta County led the region in job growth with an increase of 8.1 percent for the survey year,” Coweta County Development Authority President Greg Wright said in the CCDA November newsletter. “That outpaced the growth rate for the state, which was 2.2 percent.”

Wright said Coweta’s 10.4 percent growth rate in goods-producing jobs which includes manufacturing and construction was impressive.

“The study found that Coweta’s manufacturing sector accounted for one-third of the region’s job growth in that category,” Wright said, adding that service sector jobs, which include the healthcare sector, grew at 9.7 percent.

The report noted that healthcare now accounts for 1 out of every 8 jobs in the community, Wright said.

“We are delighted with the results of the study. Not only are we seeing solid growth in our manufacturing sector, our healthcare sector continues to grow as well,” said Wright. “These are the types of high-paying jobs we are targeting, and it is great news to see that our community has been successful.”
