The Clayton State University Theatre will be performing their fall production, “Bat Boy: The Musical,” at 8 p.m. on Nov. 13 through 15.

There will also be a matinee performance at 2:30 p.m. on Nov. 15. The event is free for Clayton State students and $5 for general admission.

“Bat Boy: The Musical,” is the stage adaptation of a Weekly World News 1992 story about a half-boy and half-bat living in a cave. The first off-Broadway production was at the Union Square Theatre in 2001.

10 months later, it closed due to poor initial audience reception and has since been revived at the Shaftesbury Theatre in London, the Phoenix Theater in Indianapolis and now the Clayton State University Theater.

“Bat Boy has become an underground cult classic like ‘The Rocky Horror Picture Show,’” Adam Howarth, Clayton State assistant professor of the Theater and Communication, says.
