The Peachtree City Council on Nov. 6 will consider action on the multi-family rezoning moratorium that has been in effect since 1999. Senior Planner David Rast is recommending that the council continue the moratorium.
The council in 1999 adopted the moratorium that expires annually. Rast recommended in an Oct. 31 letter that the council reaffirm the moratorium that expires this month and pertains to apartments, townhouses, duplexes, condominiums and assisted living facilities.
The moratorium was originally adopted to promote orderly residential development within the city and to maintain a high quality of police services, fire and emergency services, educational quality and quality of life, reduce traffic congestion and ameliorate air quality standards, according to the ordinance.
