Margaret (Margy) Roberts Cook, 92, of Peachtree City passed away October 20, 2014. Margy was born March 19, 1922, in Atlanta, graduated from Girls’ High School, and spent much of her life as a homemaker in East Point and Douglasville.
She had a strong faith, and interests included Bible study, sewing, cake decorating, cooking delicious meals for her family, playing with her grandchildren (sockball, anyone?), following the Braves, and caring for and loving her family, who also dearly loved her and will miss her.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 63 years, James “Jim” Clifford Cook, Sr., parents Lonnie DeWitt Roberts and Louise Edwards Roberts, sister Helen White, and brother Lonnie D. Roberts, Jr.
She is survived by her children, Joy White (Charles), Newnan, Rebecca McNair (Woodrow), Fayetteville, and James Cook, Jr. (Alice), Douglasville; grandchildren Andrew White (Kacey), Amy Vickery (Vick), Emmett McNair (Leslie), Elisabeth “Beth” McNair, Jonathan McNair, Rachel Booth (Rob), Michael Cook, and Stephen Cook; ten great-grandchildren; and extended family.
On Thursday, October 23, 2014, there will be a graveside visitation at 12:30 p.m. at Westview Cemetery in Atlanta followed at 1 p.m. by a service officiated by her nephew, Dr. Ragan Vandegriff. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Samaritan’s Purse or Mount Paran North Church of God.
