Our challenge: Repent, ask God to forgive us

We are a proud people and rightly so. America has always been at the forefront of all nations, but that position is now challenged. We, as a nation, attained that position because our forefathers were smart enough to realize that strength comes from God. Because of this belief, America was established on biblical principles.

Some will argue, “ain’t so,” but their argument is oh so weak. The truth is explicitly revealed in our founding documents. If a reasonable person will just take the time to peruse these documents, I find it hard to imagine they will not agree. “In God we Trust.”

Speaking of God, I have come to realize that too many people in America and Fayette County have strayed so far from God, that when they look toward heaven, all they see is somewhat of a heavy fog. In the past, I have had some pretty foggy days myself.

This fog keeps our national, state, and local political leaders from making sound and God-fearing decisions. They pass legislation that, I am sure, causes our forefathers to turn over in their graves. Also, these pieces of passed legislation, and the actions and conduct of too many politicians, without a doubt, grieve God deeply.

Based on what I believe is sound evidence, I see the attitude of those politicians to be one that shouts out, “I know what is best; I don’t need God’s or anyone’s help.” It is hard and sad to say, but these attitudes have increased or created problems with our economy which in turn negatively impacts all parts of American society.

The majority of politicians no longer seek the “will of the people,” but seem to have their own agendas. This is causing too many Americans to suffer needlessly. Until the political leaders choose to return America to God and their job performance reflects a sincere desire to “serve” the people, America will continue in this downward spiral.

When will this nation and Fayette County wake up? Not until a whole lot of politicians, their constituency, and all other Americans get on their knees and humble themselves.

God’s word in 2 Chronicles 7:14 tells us, “if My people who are called by My name will humble themselves and pray and seek My face, and turn from their wicked ways, then I will hear from heaven and will forgive their sin and heal their land.”

Let’s you and I start a revival today through fervent prayer, the kind that causes calluses on our knees; then invite our “politicians” and others to join us. God is the only answer!
