New Fayette teachers go through orientation

Approximately 90 teachers new to the Fayette County Public School System took part in a three-day induction program to orient them with the mission, goals, vision, and teaching philosophies and practices of the system.

A breakfast kicked-off the induction, giving the new teachers an opportunity to get acquainted with each other and their building principals before the return of all faculty on July 31.

Throughout the three-day program, teachers attended workshops on instruction planning, attendance and discipline, and assessment, as well as met with academic subject coordinators who outlined the curriculum and discussed subject-specific strategies for instruction and assessment.

Educators taking part in the new teacher induction included both veteran and first-year teachers across all school levels, elementary, middle and high. The program was held at the LaFayette Education Center July 28-30.
