Volunteers and staff gathered recently on the campus of The Children’s Village at Christian City for this year’s “Chair-ity Event” kick-off meeting. Plans are already underway for this annual holiday fund raiser, now in its eighth year. Proceeds from the event support the abandoned, abused, and otherwise homeless children who live in the cottages at The Children’s Village.

“Last year we raised over $79,000 dollars for our kids, and this year we’re hoping to raise even more,” said Ashley Bonner, Christian City’s fund development specialist.

Hosted by dedicated volunteers, community leaders, and the local arts community, this year’s Chair-ity Event will be held from 5:30 – 7:30 p.m. on Thursday, Dec. 4, at The Dolce Atlanta-Peachtree in Peachtree City.

Tickets are $25 in advance, and can be purchased online at www.christiancity.org.

Dress is casual for this drop-in event and ticket prices cover both food and drink.

“We hope you’ll stop by for delicious hors d’oeuvres and refreshments, a live performance by the Peachtree Pops Jazz Ensemble, and some holiday shopping in our magical Winter Wonderland setting,” says Bonner. “It’s a great place to find something for that special someone on your list.”

This year’s silent auction will include donated items such as getaway trips, themed baskets, collectibles, and more. Local artists, plus the children at The Children’s Village, are already working on handcrafted, one-of-a-kind chairs which are always the highlight of the “Chair-ity” event.

“We’re so lucky to have such a great group of hosts, volunteers, and artists who are already working hard to help make this year’s event, the best one yet. Our kids are truly blessed to have such amazing support,” said Bonner.
