The Greater Fayette Republican Women’s Club is holding its dinner meeting beginning at 6:30 p.m. at Due South in Peachtree City. In honor of Flag Day, the guest speaker will be State Representative John Yates of Griffin, who has represented District 73 since 1993. Rep. Yates is a U.S. Army veteran of World War II who flew over 200 missions and was awarded six air medals and four battle stars. A Flag Day celebration is today from 2:30 p.m. to 4 p.m. at Fayette Senior Services in Fayetteville This is for all who love our flag and appreciate our Pledge of Allegiance! Come enjoy a program of music to commemorate our U.S. flag. Learn about the history of the flag and the pledge from a variety of veterans, accompanied with stories and songs of America! The Fayette County Democratic Committee (FCDC) will host its next general meeting today at 9 a.m.  The venue for the gathering is the Fayetteville IHOP, 705 Jefferson Davis Drive.  FCDC meets every second Saturday of the month.  Meetings are free and open to the public.  Come out and learn what is happening in your community and your state.  For information, visit the FCDC website, www.fayettedems.org.

“Flag Day” commemoration and flag retirement ceremony is at 10 a.m. at the historic “Log Cabin” in  Fayetteville.  Fayette County Post 105 will observe Flag Day with a brief ceremony followed by the dignified retirement of hundreds of worn and faded American flags by fire.  The public is invited to attend.  http://www.americanlegionpost105ga.org

The Peachtree City Monopoly Tournament is today.  The event begins at 8:30 a.m. with registration begins and round 1 starts at 10 a.m. at Glendalough Manor, 200 Glendalough Court, Tyrone. The Sixth Annual Peachtree City Monopoly Tournament is an official Hasbro monopoly tournament open to ages 12 and over (exceptions considered on case-by-case basis). Last year the tournament had 100 contestants, with an average age of 31, coming from six different states and 17 cities across Georgia. The tournament is first and foremost for fun. Bloom Foster Care, licensed by Georgia Baptist Children’s Homes and Family Ministries, is seeking foster parents from Fayette, Coweta, Spalding, Clayton, South Fulton, Douglas Counties and areas within proximity to Fayetteville.  Foster homes are needed for sibling groups, children under the age of 5, and teenagers.  Foster parents may be married or single and do not have to own their own homes.   The next informational meeting is today at 6 p.m.  Please call Ashlie Hale for directions and more information at 770-460-6652.

A landscaping class is today from 11 a.m. to noon  at The Bridge Community Center in  Peachtree City. The Fayette Master Gardener Association is hosting a presentation by Jim Woods on “The Principles of Landscaping.” The lecture is free and open to the public. This workshop takes you through the use of camera apps and editing — all on your phone! Class size is limited and cost is $85. A Farm to Table celebration is today at  Minter’s Farm, 283 Hills Bridge Rd. in Fayetteville at  6 p.m. Join Southern Conservation Trust for a casual evening at Minter’s Farm with awesome food, music and the backdrop of Minter’s Christmas trees and fields of veggies. Rick Minter will be providing hayrides as you arrive, so be sure to jump aboard to see the farm firsthand. We welcome back My Chef Nancy and Due South Southern Cuisine’s Chef Sara Killmeier. A free movie night is at  7 p.m. at Southern Ground Amphitheater in Fayetteville.Gather up the kids for a free movie night, sponsored by Main Street and Chick-fil-A, featuring the hit movie “Frozen.” Free kids meals will be provided for any child in attendance.  Adult meals will be available for $5. Don’t miss the games, dancing with the cows, Italian ice and face painting. The MOMs Club will be selling necklaces and bracelets to raise money for the Church Street playground.
