Richard Allen Combs Sr., age 59, of Ellijay, Ga., formerly of Peachtree City, Ga., passed from this life on Sunday, May 25th, 2014, at his residence in Ellijay, Ga.
Mr. Combs worked in Civil Service for the U.S. Government for over 30 years, and retired as Chief of Family Morale, Welfare and Recreation, Atlantic Region, IMCOM, Joint Base Langley-Eustis, Va.
Mr. Combs was born April 28th, 1955 in Salisbury, N.C. to his late parents James Dalton and Eleanor Ruth Potts Combs. Richard graduated from Bradwell Institute, Class of 1973 and continued his education at Georgia Southern University where he earned his Bachelors of Science degree in recreation.
He is survived by his daughter and son-in-law, Caroline Combs Hoffman and Matthew Hoffman of Cumming, Ga.; sons, Richard Allen Combs, Jr. and Kiel Graham Combs, both of Atlanta, Ga., granddaughter, Charlotte Rebecca Hoffman of Cumming, Ga.; brothers, James Dwight Combs of Albuquerque, N.M. and Jon Eric Combs of Huntsville, Ala.
A Celebration of Life service will be held at 3 p.m. on Saturday, June 7th, 2014 At Flat Creek Country Club in Peachtree City, Ga. The family requests donations to The National Parks Conservation Association in the name of Richard Allen Combs, Sr. in lieu of flowers.
