Fayette County voters who want to cast a ballot in the upcoming May 20 primary election must make sure they are registered to vote by Monday, April 21.

The process is easier than in years past because persons of voting age who have a driver’s license or ID card issued by the state can register to vote online, according to Secretary of State Brian Kemp.

To register online, visit https://registertovote.sos.ga.gov/GAOLVR/#no-back-button.

The state also offers a “My Voter Page” (MVP) mobile application that allows residents to not only register to vote but also check their voter registration status and track the status of their absentee ballot, Kemp’s office said. The MVP app is available on mobile devices using both Apple and Android platforms, officials said.

To find the app, search for “GA Votes” in the app store, Kemp advises.

The new systems were launched last week, and it is believed that Georgia is the first state in the U.S. to offer voter registration online and through its own app, Kemp noted.
