Fayetteville resident and local business woman, Sarah Palmer, has agreed to round up a posse of local volunteers to plan and organize the American Cancer Society’s South Atlantic Division’s 2014 Cattle Barons’s Ball.

This will be the 12th consecutive year for the western themed fundraiser. The theme for this year’s ball is “Give Cancer the Boot”.

Sarah and her husband Pete have lived in Fayetteville for the last 18 years. They are the proud parents of Trent, 22, and Holly, 20. This will be the 9th year that Sarah has participated in the Cattle Baron’s Ball. Previously, Sarah has worked on the event’s silent auction, the publicity, and the event decorating committees.

When asked why she has continued to volunteer to help raise money for the American Cancer Society, Palmer responded, “Like so many others in this community, I have been touched by friends, co-workers and neighbors who have fought the cancer battle. I participate in Cattle Baron’s because of them.”

When asked why she has chosen to step up as Chairperson this year and what she hopes to bring to the position, Palmer replied, “We ended last year’s ball on such a really great vibe! I would like to continue that and all of the good works that all of the previous chairpersons have done over the last 11 years. My hope is to bring more awareness to The American Cancer Society’s mission through my passion for this very important cause.”

Sarah mentioned that she has a few surprises for past attendees of the Cattle Baron’s Ball. “We’re going to mix up some things this year, try some new tricks. If you’ve attended before, this is a Cattle Baron’s Ball you don’t want to miss!”

It takes a large group of volunteers to produce this really fun, very successful event. The round-up of volunteers for the 2014 Cattle Baron’s ball is now underway. A wide variety of committee ‘posse’ positions are available, and additional helping hands are always welcome.

Volunteers only need to be willing to pitch in where needed, and to help make this event a night of good fun and successful fundraising. If you are interested in helping Sarah and her committee of posse volunteers as they Give Cancer the Boot, please contact Sarah Palmer at 770-719-4955 or email her at givecancertheboot2014@gmail.com.
