Wilbur Charles Cato, Jr., 68, of Fayetteville, passed away at home on April 1, 2014. Â
Charlie was a 1964 graduate of Russell High School. He joined the armed forces and was awarded the Purple Heart while proudly serving as a Buck Sergeant in the U.S. Army 101st Airborne during the Vietnam War as a medic. Charlie retired from Delta Air Lines after over 30 years of service. Â
He was a loving husband, father, grandfather and brother. He was preceded in death by his parents Irene & Wilbur Cato, Sr. and brother Roy Cato.
He is survived by his wife of 43 years Carol Cato; son Brad Cato; daughter Sandy Cato & Rob Hambrick; grandchildren Hayden & Camden Hambrick; also sisters Gail Pope and Alice Cato. Â
A memorial service will be held Sat., April 12, 2014 at 2 p.m. at the Chapel of Mowell Funeral Home, Fayetteville. Reverend Bob Partridge will officiate. The family will receive friends Sat. from 1- 2 p.m. prior to the service. Â
