About 50 members of the community visited the Fayetteville Ward of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints for its Family History Fair last month.

The keynote speaker, Roger Hoffman, explained why family history is so important. Maureen Keillor taught classes on Beginning the Adventure, Online Research and Crossing the Brickwall and the Atlantic.

The Fayetteville Ward also announced the March 5 opening of its mini-Family History Center, a mobile computer lab designed to assist members and the community in using familysearch.org to advance their family history research.

Familysearch.org is a free Website that contains thousands of family history and genealogy records, including downloadable official documents and individual family history books.

The local center, located at 2021 Redwine Rd., Fayetteville, is open on Wednesday evenings from 7 to 8:30 p.m. for all members of the community to obtain assistance in climbing their family tree.
