On the evening of March 13, the Business Women of Fayette and Coweta will host the Hoedown for Champions, featuring barbeque, country line dancing and a cake auction.
Tickets for this Peachtree City event for adults (both men and women) are on sale now through March 7 for $30 each. Tickets and sponsorship information and easy payment through Paypal are at www.bwfcc.org.
Hoedown for Champions benefits TEAM Alliance. TEAM Alliance was founded by Peachtree City retired pastor Jane White-Stevens in order to provide support for Kingdom Champions Academy, a Christian school serving orphans and other impoverished children in the slums of Nairobi, Kenya.
The mission is to give these children education, a daily meal, hope and a future. 100 percent of the proceeds from the Hoedown for Champions will go to Kingdom Champions Academy.
Jane White-Stevens said, “This school took kids who weren’t even getting enough food to eat, and now they get two meals a day. I can see the hope in their faces. I know this works. I saw them three years ago, and then last year. There’s a difference. There’s confidence. Their eyes sparkle. They look healthy. They have energy.”
Kingdom Champions Academy is a Christian school that follows Kenyan government curriculum standards. According to Jane White-Stevens, they study English and Swahili. Some students may speak a different language at home. Many of them share books.
“If there’s not enough money to feed the children at the school, the people who run the school go without food at home,” said Jane White-Stevens.
Hoedown for Champions Chair Sheila Rambeck said, “It’s a worthy cause to help these kids. If we don’t help them, who will? I’m happy to take care of kids overseas. We want to do things here in the county, but we also live in the world. They need a good education and a good Christian background.”
What does Rambeck want locals to know about Hoedown for Champions “Any adult is welcome. Even though we are the Business Women of Fayette and Coweta, women, bring your husbands and boyfriends. The more the merrier,” said Rambeck, a bankruptcy attorney with RambeckLaw.
One of the best ways to support Hoedown for Champions is sponsorship. “Having been to Nairobi, Kenya and seen the children, it’s something I have a heart for,” said High Honor Roll Sponsor, Scott Rowland of Peachtree Planning. “I challenge other business and community leaders to support Hoedown for Champions. When we give, we all win.”
