Robert Matthew Nolan arrived in this world on March 7, 1934 and departed peacefully on February 13, 2014.
Bob lived his life as a beloved son, brother, uncle, husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather and friend.
Bob was born in Milford, Conn. and as a young man joined the Marines and saw some of the world during the Korean War. He returned to Milford and started to raise his family. An opportunity for work moved the family from Milford to Whittier, Calif. in 1978. And, yes, Bob built the kids the pool they were promised!
While continuing to raise his family, Bob was proud of his work as a tool and die manufacturing engineer and enjoyed filling his free time playing softball, golf and was an avid crossword puzzle solver.
Bob remained in California until 2001 when a visit to the beautiful, golf-centric, Peachtree City, Ga., made it easy to decide where and when to retire. A place where he and his wife, Jan, could play golf just about every day, be close to family, make new friends, work as a marshal on the golf course and travel, including trips to the casinos.
This filled his days as they created a home and peaceful final resting place in Peachtree City.
Bob was preceded in death by first wife June Rose, brother Tom, son Robert John and daughter Laura Elizabeth.
He is survived by his loving wife of fifteen years, Janice Nolan; brother John Nolan and sister-in-law Karen Nolan; sister Jane Hildebrandt; brother Paul Nolan; daughter Lisa Germain and son-in-law Derrick Germain; son Jeffrey Nolan and daughter-in-law Kelle Nolan; step-daughter Robin Smith and husband Scott Smith; step-daughter Rondie Martin and husband Paul Martin; thirteen grandchildren, two greatgrandchildren and Miss Molly (the cat).
Thank you, Bob, for living a full life! You will be greatly missed and remembrance of you will put a smile on our faces!
A memorial service was held on Tuesday February 18, 2014 at 3 p.m. at Mowell & Son Funeral Home in Peachtree City.
