Calvin “Mac” R. McCully, 83, of Fayetteville, passed away December 11, 2013.

He served in the US Army during the Korean and Vietnam Wars and retired a Major after 20 years. He then worked for the Department of Army as a civilian for another 20 years before retiring from there. He was an active polling officer in Fayette County and was a Piedmont Fayette Hospital Auxiliary volunteer.

He was preceded in death by his wife Janiece McCully; grandson Jason Walker; 5 brothers; and 1 sister.

He is survived by his son Michael McCully (Joan Hale) of Stockbridge; daughter Marci Moore of Newnan; daughter Cathy Vinson (David) of Peachtree City; daughter Melissa Lennon (Michael) of Fayetteville; grandchildren Jessika McBride Johnston (Mark) of Newnan, Mary Vinson Lopes (Michael) of Mebane, N.C., Sarah Vinson, Michael Vinson, Rachel Vinson, Joseph Vinson, and Daniel Vinson, all of Peachtree City, and Joseph Lennon and Meagan Lennon of Fayetteville; great-grandchildren Isaac McBride, Marley Johnston, and Ella Lopes.

A funeral service will be held Monday, December 16, 2013 at 3 p.m. at the Chapel of Mowell Funeral Home, Fayetteville. Reverend Jeffrey Halenza will officiate. The burial will follow at Westminster Memorial Gardens, Peachtree City. The family will receive friends Monday from 1 to 3 p.m. prior to the service.
