A Fayetteville man and one from Hampton have been arrested on charges of burglary in connection to a Sept. 14 break-in in south Fayette County.
Fayette County Sheriff Barry Babb said 24-year-old Robert Gosdin, of Fayetteville, and 23-year-old Hampton resident Robert Thompson were charged with burglary and obstruction.
Babb said a deputy at approximately 10:30 a.m. on Sept. 14 observed a suspicious vehicle behind a closed business on Ga. Highway 92 near Hillsbridge Road in south Fayette. The deputy was on patrol when he saw the suspicious SUV parked behind the building, Babb said.
“When the deputy drove onto the property, he saw two males appear at the rear door of the business. As the deputy got out of his car, the men fled into the woods,” said Babb.
Babb said other units arrived to help search for the men whose identity was known to the original deputy.
“Both men are being considered suspects in a vehicle theft that occurred near the incident location just after they fled from officers,” Babb said, adding that the vehicle the men are suspected of stealing has been recovered.
Thompson was recently released from prison and is a person of interest in other crimes in Coweta County, Babb added.
