Sandy Creek 54, East Coweta 35: The Patriots (2-0-1) exploded for a 28-0 first-quarter lead in their road game against the Indians, who never got closer than 13 points after that. It was Sandy Creek’s second straight game with 50 or more points against a AAAAAA opponent. With their regular-season unbeaten streak now at 42 games, the Patriots have an off week before hosting Fayette County Sept. 27.

Landmark 14, Mt. Paran 7: The War Eagles are now 4-0 on the season after prevailing at home in a defensive struggle against the Eagles. Senior running back Darius Smith scored on a 5-yard run late in the first quarter, and on the next play from scrimmage freshman defensive back Joey Blount picked off a Mt. Paran lateral and raced 35 yards for a score. The only other score of the same came in the second quarter. Landmark is off next week and will travel to Mt. Vernon Sept. 28 for a Saturday afternoon game.

McIntosh 24, Ola 6: The Chiefs are now 3-0 after picking up a second straight road win and will host Drew next Friday.

West Forsyth 33, Starr’s Mill 29: The Panthers (1-2) now have two losses on the road against top AAAAAA teams, although in this game they had the ball at the Wolverines’ 15 with a chance to win, according to coach Chad Phillips. They host Mt. Zion from Clayton County next Friday.

Mt. Pisgah 17, Our Lady of Mercy 16: The Bobcats are 0-2 after falling on the road to the undefeated Patriots. Next Friday is the OLM home opener against Athens Academy.
