The Whitewater High School softball camp is today at the Whitewater softball field. The camp runs from 5 p.m.-6:45 p.m. for 7-10 year olds and 7 p.m. to 8:45 p.m. for ages 11-14. The cost is $55 cash; credit card or money order must be done through Fayette Community Schools.

The Georgia Department of Labor is holding a career expo in Building A at the LaFayette Educational Center in Fayetteville from 9 a.m. until noon During the expo, attendees will meet with area employers who are hiring, including other school systems. They will also have the opportunity to hear about different options for training and education. Attendees can also visit with community resource providers who can assist them with other needs.

Chamber members are invited to attend a congressional update from U.S. Representative Lynn Westmoreland  today at 8:30 a.m. at the Chamber meeting place.  The Congressman will share the latest activity in Washington and take questions from the audience. Registration is required for this event.

The Stardust Ballroom Dance Club will host its 10th anniversary ballroom Dance with a FREE one-hour lesson from 8 p.m. to 10:45 p.m. Dance music & lighting by DJ Bill Mitchell. Cost of dance includes one-hour West Coast Swing lesson from 7 p.m. to 8 p.m. by instructor Frank Chafardon. Attire is smart casual. Light refreshments provided. Fayetteville Main Street, along with Heritage Bank – Fayetteville Branch, hosts its second Lunch on the Lawn this Friday.  It is a great opportunity for local employees and residents to get outside on their lunch break, and enjoy the beautiful weather and music on the Historic Courthouse lawn in Downtown Fayetteville.  Lunch on the Lawn will take place from 11.30 a.m. to1.30 p.m., and everyone is welcome to attend this community event.  Upscale Pizza will be providing lunch that includes a selection of cheese or pepperoni personal pan pizza and drink, or one hotdog, chips and drink for $5.  Those attending can always bring their own lunch as well.  The MOM’s club will also have a lemonade stand to raise money for the Church St. playground.
Local artists “The Nate Bennett Band” will be entertaining the crowd with classic songs.

The Hit N Run Baseball/Softball Showcase is today from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at North Clayton High School.  For those that have already registered and have a conflict please contact Coach Tim Goodrum at 770-895-5001. The camp’s preferred ages are 13 -21 and will cover all aspects of preparing players for showcases, as well as will provide the needed knowledge for parents in showcase selections to fit your player’s talents and skill level. The community is invited to a free Open House at ARS Master Rosarian Cindy Dale’s garden at 306 Wintney Way in Peachtree City. The open house is from 1 p.m.-5 p.m. The rain date is June 2 from 1 p.m. to 5 p.m.. Dale’s garden features 250 rose bushes and other plantings, winding paths, fountains, and statuary. The camp will include: QB play/RB play/lineman skills/linebacker and defensive back skills. Proper mechanics and speed enhancing drills will be taught. Camp will be instructed by all varsity football coaches. Participants will be divided into small groups to increase the improvement opportunities. Participants should bring cleats, sneakers and water. The cost is $80/player if registered by May 31 and $90/player for walk up registration. To register, fill out the form provided on The Community School website at www.fayettecs.org. Participants can either mail a money order or cashiers check to The Fayette Community School. Or, pay in person with cash or credit card between 8 a.m.- 8 p.m. Monday through Thursday or 8 a.m.-4:30 p.m. on Fridays. The National Association of Purchasing Management-West GA affiliate  meets today at 5:45 p.m. The meeting is at  the Hilton Garden Inn in Peachtree City. The 4th annual Historic Senoia Bicycle Tour is today. This easy 3-hour bicycle tour of historic Senoia is for bicyclists of all ages and abilities. The tour is great for people interested in the history of the area, interesting architecture, tales of residents past and present, and the sites where such films and TV episodes have been shot as “Fried GreenTomatoes,” “The War,” “Andersonville” and “The Walking Dead.”
The tour starts at 9 a.m.  It will begin and end at the Senoia Area Historical Societyheadquarters and museum at 6 Couch Street, where riders will have the opportunity to view a brief history of the town and images of some of Senoia’s key citizens and structures from the past, then ride through the Senoia Historic District, making stops in front of homes and churches.  Afterward, enjoy light refreshments and a chance to win a door prize and take a walk through time. Recommended donations are $15 for adults and $10 for children under 13.  All proceeds benefit the Senoia Area Historical Society.  Donations are tax deductible.  Helmets are required.  Due to frequent stops, walkable cycling shoes are recommended.
