As the Coweta County school year heads towards a close on Friday, May 24, Coweta County high schools are preparing for their major year-end events. The senior classes of all three high schools will hold Baccalaureate services on Sunday, May 19, at 2 p.m. at three different locations.
The East Coweta High School Baccalaureate service will be held at 2 p.m. at the Centre for Performing and Visual Arts (on Lower Fayetteville Road in Newnan); the Northgate High Baccalaureate service will be held at 2 p.m. at Crossroads Church (at the Ga. Highway 154 Campus in Sharpsburg); and the Newnan High School Baccalaureate service will be held at 2 p.m. at First Baptist Church (on West Washington Street in Newnan).
High School graduation ceremonies will be held on each of Coweta’s three high school’s campuses on three different days (May 23, 24 and 25). The Central Educational center will also honor dual-enrollment students at a ceremony on May 22. The ceremonies are:
The Central Educational Center will hold a Dual-Enrollment Graduation on Wednesday, May 22 7 p.m. at the Centre for Performing and Visual Arts. Over 100 dual-enrolled students who have earned a diploma or certificate from West Georgia Technical College are expected to participate in the program.
Newnan High School’s Graduation ceremony will be held Thursday, May 23 at 7:30 p.m. in Drake Stadium (Bass Gymnasium in case of rain).
Newnan High’s 2013 Valedictorian is Jonathan Kelly Swenson and NHS’s 2013 Salutatorian is Abigail Palmer Gordon.
Northgate High School’s Graduation ceremony will be held Friday, May 24 at 7:30 p.m. on Henry Seldon Field (Johnny Brown Gymnasium in case of rain).
Northgate High’s 2013 Valedictorian is Clint Russell Garn and NGHS’s 2013 Salutatorian is Bharath Ramanathan Shankar.
East Coweta High School’s Graduation ceremony will be held Saturday, May 25, 9 a.m. in Shoemake Stadium (Thrower Gymnasium in case of rain).
East Coweta High’s 2013 Valedictorian is Saeyun Lee and ECHS’s 2013 Salutatorian is Rachael Ana Scott.
East Coweta High School will also be offering the use of school system buses to transport people to and from the school’s graduation ceremony again this year to help to alleviate parking congestion experienced at past graduations. On the morning of May 25, ECHS is planning to offer shuttle bus service from Lee Middle School, Willis Road Elementary School and Poplar Road Elementary School. People attending graduation can park at these sites and ride buses to the campus.
Buses will begin running at 7 a.m. from all three sites and will continue running until all participants are back at their cars. In addition, each of these parking sites will be staffed with deputies for security purposes and volunteers that will assist with parking vehicles.
