Founded in 1991 by 11 Fayette County churches, the Fayette Samaritans carry out their mission to support those in need in Fayette County.
Today, over 45 local churches provide support to this worthy charity. In 2012, roughly 2000 adults and 1588 children under the age of 18 representing 1,100 households were served in their time of need.
In addition to the churches’ donations, local groups also have answered the call to assist our residents in times of need. Members of the Frankie Lyle Chapter United Daughters of the Confederacy have committed to donate food, clothing, and money to the Fayette Samaritans.
The Fayette Samaritans relies on volunteers to staff the facility. Along with sorting and stocking the food pantry and clothes which are donated,volunteers ensure the smooth operation of the charity.
One example is David West who volunteers each month to deliver donations made by the Frankle Lyle Chapter UDC. West is also involved on a weekly basis with interviewing the clients who are requesting assistance.Last year, he volunteered over 150 hours in this capacity alone.

The Frankie Lyle UDC is a lineage society of women who descend from a Confederate soldier or sailor who served honorably in the War Between the States. Their objectives are education, memorial, patriotic, historical and benevolent. They carry out these objectives through various projects.
