Glenn A. Riley of Fayetteville, passed away on April 18, 2013 at the age of 60.

He was born in Nuremberg, Germany on December 21, 1952, the oldest child in an army family. Glenn and his family lived in many places including Fort Benning, Ga., Fairbanks, Alaska, Colorado Springs, Colo., Fort Bragg, N.C. and College Park, Ga. He was a graduate of Lakeshore High School and Shorter College.

Glenn had a varied career. He worked at the Federal Reserve Bank in Atlanta as a statistical reporter. He then went into the ocean cargo industry, working at Nippon Express, IFF, Inc. and F.X. Coughlin. He was hired by National Wire Products as an inside sales coordinator and then, for the past 20 years, worked at The Coca Cola Company, Hapeville Plant as a shipping and receiving associate.

Glenn had many interests and accomplishments. He was active in his church and community. He will be remembered for his friendly disposition as he loved to meet new people and converse with them. He was an Eagle Scout. He was a former member of both Toastmasters and Peachtree Running Club. He was a volunteer usher at the Fox Theatre and a proctor at the Georgia State Bar Exam. He enjoyed traveling and eating at nice restaurants. Glenn became an avid Coca Cola Bottle collector. He also enjoyed following the news in the financial world.

Glenn loved to participate in running events. He was a top high school runner in the state, running at 4:26 mile and a 9:38 two mile. His love for running continued after school as he entered various races. When the Peachtree Road Race was in its beginning years, Glenn placed 10th in the race. When his son, Jon, ran for Carson Newnan College, Glenn became involved as the cross country teamís biggest fan. He went to every one of the meets around the Southeast.

Glenn is survived by his wife, Linda Riley; son Jonathan Riley and wife Miranda of Leesburg, Va.; brother Wayne Riley and wife Michelle of Fayetteville; sister Karen Hardin and Gene of Hampton; 3 nieces, 4 nephews, 2 great-nieces and 5 great-nephews.

A funeral service was held Monday, April 22, 2013 at 2 p.m. at the Chapel of Mowell Funeral Home, Fayetteville. Dr. Stephen Batts officiated. Interment followed at Westminster Memorial Gardens, Peachtree City. The family received friends Sunday from 3 until 5 p.m. at the funeral home.
