Starr’s Mill High School Bands presents “A Night of Starrs” tonight at 6 p.m. at Frederick Brown Jr. “The Fred” Amphitheater in Peachtree City. The evening under the stars showcases the talents of the Starr’s Mill music department and features the Big Band sounds of the “Swingin’ Starrs” jazz ensemble, along with the “Octave Above” jazz choir and performances by other school musical groups. The Carnegie Library and Keep Newnan Beautiful are presenting “Take Action: Recycle, Reuse, Re-Create”from 10 a.m.-noon at the library. This program is designed as a contest for middle and high school students. Native American Heritage Day at Stately Oaks Plantation in Jonesboro runs from 10 a.m. to 3p.m. Most family-oriented exhibitions and activities take place throughout a life-size working replica of a Muscogee Indian Village. Stately Oaks is at 100 Carriage Lane in Jonesboro. Visitors can munch on native American cuisine like stone-baked corncakes, sip sassafras tea, while strolling among the Indian village, viewing demonstrations in arrow making, basket and finger weaving, blow gun shooting, beading, pottery making and firing, and see old-time musket shooting, among others. Children can learn first-hand how to light a fire without matches. Parents may browse amidIndian arts and crafts exhibits, purchase beautiful, hand-crafted jewelry and other gifts. Admission for Native American Heritage Day is $6 for adults, $4 for senior citizens, and $3 for children under 12. All uniform-wearing Boy, Girl, Cub and Brownie Scouts pay half-price. Willis Road Elementary School will be hosting its second annual “Cruising Thru the CRCTs Car and Bike Show” from 11 a.m. to 3:30 p.m.. The event will be held at the school at 430 Willis Road in Sharpsburg. Vintage, antique and unique cars and motorcycles will be on display. All vehicles registered will receive a commemorative dash plaque. Car and bike registration is $10 per vehicle and begins at 10 a.m. Delicious, fresh smoked BBQ plates and hot dog plates will be available. BBQ plates cost $7 and include sandwich, chips, baked beans, slaw and a drink. Hot dog plates cost $4 and include hot dog, chips, baked beans and a drink. The Knights of Columbus Council 8081, Holy Trinity Catholic Church in Peachtree City will sponsor the Community Charity Golf Classic at the Orchard Hills Golf Course at Ga. Highway 16, I-85 in Newnan. Entrance fee is $80 per golfer. Practice opens at 7 a.m., registration starts at 7:30, load carts at 8:45 a.m. with a shotgun start at 9 a.m. Lunch and awards at 2 p.m. There will be prizes for first, second and third place low net score winners. April 21 — The Fayette County Historical Society will meet at 3 p.m. The speaker is Representative John Yates, the oldest serving member of the Georgia State Legislature and its only surviving WW II veteran. The meeting is at the Fayette County Historical Society building at the corner of Lee Street and Johnson Street in Fayetteville.

The fourth annual “Taste of Senoia” is being held at The Veranda Historic Bed and Breakfast Inn located at 252 Seavy Street in downtown Senoia. There will be two separate admissions – 3:30 p.m. -5 p.m. and 5:30 p.m.-7 p.m. and ticket prices are $10.

Tickets can be purchased through April 13 from Senoia Optimist Club members or through various Senoia businesses. The event features delicious food prepared by many of Senoia’s restaurants as well as local area citizens, noted author and historian Herb Bridges, interesting raffles, and possibly more! April 22 — The Coweta-Fayette Auburn Club will hold its annual social and dinner meeting at the Coweta Club at Arbor Springs Country Club in Newnan. Coach Rodney Garner is the scheduled guest speaker. Coach Garner is the assistant head coach and defensive line Coach for auburn football. He has been named by Rivals.com as one of the top 50 recruiters in the country. Coach Garner played football at Auburn from 1984-1988. The social hour will start at 6 p.m. with the dinner at 7 p.m.

Lewis Colbert, former Auburn punter, will be signing copies of his book, “The Unlikeliest Auburn Tiger.” A silent auction to benefit the “Whupper Lee Scholarship” fund will feature many desirable items. A football signed by Coach Gus Malzahn and other Auburn collectibles will be raffled. The cost is $30 per person and reservations are required by April 18. The South MetrSociety meetstymeets at 6:30 p.m. at the Heritage Bank at 440 North Jeff Davis Drive in Fayetteville. All rose growers from novice to expert are invited to attend free of charge. This month’s program features Master Rosarian, horticulture judge, and past resident, Walt Reed speaking on “What’s Bugging Your Roses.” This is an excellent opportunity to learn how to identify diseases and insects that love roses and what to do about them before the growing season sets in. Join us for breakfast to learn how the Leader in Me Program is impacting public school children. Spring Hill Elementary has been a pilot for this remarkable leadership program for kids. April 25 — New Writers Night is from 6 p.m.- 8 p.m. at the Barnes & Noble Booksellers in the Ashley Park Mall in Newnan. A “Drop Dead Diva” casting call is from noon to 6 p.m. at the TCBY in the Braelinn Village Shopping Center. During this day long event, TCBY will be contributing a portion of the entire day’s sales of TCBY self-serve frozen yogurt and sorbet to The Breast Cancer Survivor’s Network. April 26 — The Fayette Philharmonic Youth Orchestra presents its first full orchestra concert at 7:30 p.m. at Flat Creek Baptist Church, 161 Flat Creek Trail, Fayetteville. This is a free concert and will include music from “Les Miserables” as well as Dvorak’s “New World Symphony” and “Jupiter“ from the “Planets.” The FPYO, under the direction of Cindy Wilson, has been in existence for three years and this is their first full orchestra presentation. April 27 — Our Lady of Victory’s Home and School Association is sponsoring a “Run for Victory,” at the school located at 211 Kirkley Road, Tyrone. The Run for Victory 5K Race and one mile Fun Run is part of the Peachtree City Rotary Club Elementary Grand Prix Race Series. The sixth annual Fayette County Earth Day Festival is today from 10 a.m.- 3 p.m. at Shakerag Knoll in Peachtree City. May 27 — Traditional Memorial Day ceremony is at 11 a.m. at the Fayetteville City Cemetery. American flags will decorate the graves of veterans buried there.
