Fayette County (0-2) hosted Starr’s Mill in a battle between county rivals. The two teams slugged it out in something of a defensive battle until the Panthers got a 68 yard touchdown run from Dion Munerlyn in the third quarter, his second of the night, and a 27 yard field goal from Daniel Rorick in the fourth to seal the win.

“We’re excited about him,” Starr’s Mill head coach Chad Phillips said of Munerlyn after the game, adding that he was pleased to get the points they did while dealing with several injured offensive players. “Our defensive coaches also do a great job of putting our boys in position to play well.” Starr’s Mill (1-1) got three interceptions on the night, two from Joshua Roberts and one from Timothy Roberts. Turnovers are rally killers by their very nature and the two in the fourth quarter, a Tiger fumble in the end zone that resulted in a touchback and Timothy Roberts interception returned 65 yards, put the Panthers in position to win.

Over in Peachtree City, the McIntosh Chiefs improved to 2-0 on the season with a 21-6 win over Alexander. Sebastian James scored the first touchdown for McIntosh with a run, while Andrew Johnson threw two touchdown passes in the second half, one to Bo Brown and another to Trey Walters to get the win.

Sandy Creek (2-0) led Newnan 17-7 after the first quarter and never looked back. The Patriots got three touchdowns from Antonio Williams, one from Chancellor Triplett and two from Zerric Willis. Sandy Creek won 38-7.

Whitewater (1-1) took on Mundy’s Mill and won 30-18. Kendall Conley had three touchdowns in the win.

Our Lady of Mercy (2-0) was scheduled to face Southwest Atlanta Christian and won by forfeit.

Landmark Christian (1-2) lost to Wilkinson County 41-10.
