Congregation B’nai Israel (CBI), a Reform Jewish synagogue in Fayetteville, will resume religious school classes on Sunday, Aug. 19, launching the 2012-2013 academic year.
Students at CBI learn Jewish history, culture, and Hebrew using a spiral curriculum provided by the Institute of Southern Jewish Life. Classes are offered for children from pre-school age through ninth grade. Angela Ellis, synagogue administrator and religious school director, said the religious school will follow the theme “Growing Together as a Community of Learners.”
The school also provides individual training for young people preparing for the Bar Mitzvah or Bat Mitzvah process. Ellis reminds parents that students are required, at a minimum, to attend religious school the last two years leading up to the ceremony.
Religious school classes will be held from 10 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. on most Sundays during the school year. Complete information about programs and registration may be obtained by calling the synagogue office at 678-817-7162.
The synagogue is located at 1633 Ga. Highway 54 East, near the Fayette-Clayton county line.
