Coweta Charter Academy at Senoia Principal Terry Stollar has been with the school since it opened in 2010. But today Stollar is preparing to take a position with another Charter Schools USA school in Indiana to be near her family. Meantime, the search for Stollar’s replacement is underway.
“As you may have heard, I have resigned my position at Coweta Charter Academy and am taking a position with Charter Schools USA in Indianapolis, Indiana as part of the Turn Around School Project,” Stollar said in a letter to parents. “This was a very difficult decision for me, because I love Coweta Charter Academy and feel so attached to all of you and your children. The basis for my decision is to be closer to my family. This year when my mother came to visit, it became more evident to me that she was going to need more support in the coming years. I also have brothers, sons, cousins, and grandchildren all within three hours of Indianapolis.”
Stollar in the letter told parents that the school is being “watched over” and that most teachers are returning for the school year that begins in August.
“Everyone is very excited to see all the students at the beginning of the school year,” Stollar said. “I will miss you all and deep in my heart will always remember Coweta Charter Academy. It is a very unique place to learn.”
Charter Schools USA Vice President for Operations Richard Page said the screening and interview process for the new principal is well underway.
“We’re very close and we’ve narrowed it down to a couple of applicants.” Page said, adding that the new principal is expected to be hired before school begins in mid-August.
The Coweta Charter Academy at Senoia will serve grades K-6 during the 2012-2013 school year.
