The 5th Annual Peachtree City Convention and Visitors Bureau (CVB) International Festival and the Peachtree City Rotary Club Dragon Boat Races will be held on Saturday, September 22 at Drake Field on Lake Peachtree in Peachtree City.
At Rotary’s weekly meeting on July 19 at the Wyndham Conference Center, the Club held a “Rally for Dragonboat Racing” and devoted the program time to viewing videos of previous races, hearing from Rotarians Marcia Cole, Bill MacDonald and Nancy Price about the status of the event thus far and plans for continuing to accept sponsors and paddling teams for the race and vendors for the International Festival. Members were encouraged to promote the event to their friends, neighbors and businesses to secure additional sponsors and/or teams.
Each club member will be involved in some area of making the event a premier showcase for Peachtree City.
At the race in September the new and lighter 10 person multicolored boats recently purchased, (there’s even a pink one for cancer survivors) will be used for the first time.
The event is open to the public at no charge and along with the racing competition there will be entertainment, food and cultural displays- something for everyone – so put the date on your calendar and join the fun.
