In a case of “It’s not your daddy’s cap gun anymore,” Peachtree City Police have charged Rame Ervin Key, 22, of Wisdom Road, Peachtree City with simple assault for pointing the toy weapon at a woman and her children and popping off some caps.

Here’s how it happened, according to Capt. Rosanna Dove:

“On May 1, 2012 at approximately 4:20 p.m., the [woman] was riding on her golf cart with her children. As another golf cart passed them, [she] saw the driver raise his right hand and when he did this, she saw what she believed to be a small, silver in color cap gun.

“[She] said she heard a sound, similar to hands clapping, and assumed that the driver had pressed the trigger on the cap gun.

“Within a few minutes, [she] called 911 and reported that the golf cart was white and had two black males on it. The driver was described as a heavy-set, medium-skin toned black male, in his mid-twenties with dreadlocks. She could only describe the passenger as a smaller black male,” Dove said.

At first officers looked for the cart and the two suspects, but had no luck. But after further investigation, officers got a warrant for Key and arrested him June 5, Dove said.

“He was transported to the Fayette County Sheriff’s Office for processing,” Dove said.
