COS youth take time for winter retreat
Marta Diehm will lead a group of youth and sponsors from Christ Our Shepherd Lutheran Church on a Winter Break Retreat Feb. 17-19. Diehm is the church’s interim director of high school and family ministries. The retreat will take place at Holy Trinity House at Lutheranch, a new retreat center at Tallapoosa, Ga. The group will experience innovative Bible study and prayer, musical jam sessions, hikes, and interactive activities.

‘Purity day’planned at Fayetteville CoC
Fayetteville Church of Christ is holding a “Purity Day” event for girls of all ages. The event entitled “Purer in Heart” will be held on Feb. 18.  Guest speaker will be Hannah Colley, author of “Gifts: Girls in Fellowship and Team Study.” Fayetteville Church of Christ is  at 870 Redwine Rd., Fayetteville.  Lunch will be provided after the event. Nativity announces Lenten events
Episcopal Church of the Nativity in Fayetteville will hold a Mardi Gras party from 6:30 to 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday, Feb. 21, marking the traditional last day of feasting before the beginning of Lent, the penitential period leading up to Easter Sunday on April 8. On Feb. 22, Epiphany will observe Ash Wednesday, making the sign of the cross with the imposition of ashes on communicants’ foreheads at special services set for 7 a.m., noon, and 7 p.m.  During Lent, a service will be held at 7 p.m. each Wednesday, based on Christ’s seven last words from the cross.

FFUMC will again host Lenten lunches
Fayetteville First United Methodist Church will again host its weekly series of Lenten lunches, featuring a light lunch and a brief message at noon each Thursday during Lent. The cost is $2 and the  first is scheduled for Wednesday, Feb. 22, at noon at the church, 175 E. Lanier Ave. (Ga. Highway 54 W.) in downtown Fayetteville. The Rev. Mark Westmoreland, senior pastor, will be the speaker and the Faith Circle will provide the lunch. An Ash Wednesday service will be held that evening at 6:30 p.m., offering the imposition of ashes. Christ Our Shepherd Lutheran Church announces two services on Ash Wednesday, Feb. 22. The services at 12:15 and 7 p.m. will include a sermon by Associate Pastor Miriam Beecher, special music, holy communion, and the imposition of ashes for those who wish to receive them. All are invited

Word of God Lutheran sets Lenten events
Word of God Lutheran Church in Peachtree City  will hold its Ash Wednesday service on Feb. 22 at 7 p.m. with imposition of ashes and Holy  Communion.  Wednesday mid-week Lenten services will be held at 7 p.m. on Feb. 29, March 7, March 14, March 21, and March 28.  Word of God meets at 303 Kelly Dr., Suite 10, Peachtree City.  Larry Lystig is the interim pastor. New Hope clown program set for March 2
The Clowns with New Hope Clown Troupe will present “All Things Fun,” a program for the whole family.  The show will take place Friday night, March 2 at 7 p.m., in the New Hope Baptist Church North Campus Worship Center.  Some nationally known entertainers will come together for an evening of magic, juggling, and clowning. Admission is free.

Southern Style Quartet to perform March 4
Members of Peachtree City Christian Church will present the Southern Style Quartet for an evening of gospel music Sunday, March 4 at 6 pm. Admission is free. A love offering will taken for Joshua’s Gift — a benevolence ministry of PTC3 that provides backpacks filled with food for the weekend for local school children.
