A Jonesboro man died Jan. 7 in a single vehicle accident when he was ejected from his motorcycle on Ga. Highway 279.

Fayette County Sheriff’s Maj. Bryan Woodie said Donnolley A. Reid, 34, was operating a 2009 Honda motorcycle and driving south on Hwy. 279 near the intersection with Ga. Highway 314 at approximately 5:06 a.m. Reid was alone on the motorcycle, Woodie said.

Woodie said that for reasons not yet known, the motorcycle left the roadway on the southbound side. Reid attempted to steer his vehicle back on to the roadway but was unsuccessful. After leaving the roadway the motorcycle struck a sign post and tree before coming to rest. Reid was ejected from his vehicle and suffered fatal injuries, Woodie said.

The Fayette County Sheriff’s Traffic Enforcement Section is investigating a single vehicle traffic crash.

This is the first fatal motor vehicle crash to have occurred in unincorporated Fayette County in 2012.
