Tree Removal – Permit Required, Process Revamped for 2012
Effective January 1, Peachtree City residents will have a new process when applying for tree removal permits on residential property. The purpose of these changes is to streamline the application process and to put the burden to provide accurate information to the City on property owners and/or tree removal contractors. City Staff has been working closely with the Planning Commission and City Council for several months to develop these new procedures, with the intent of simplifying the existing process as well as to free up Staff time for other duties.
Tree removal permit applications will now be reviewed by the Planning and Zoning Department instead of by Code Enforcement. Staff has developed a Frequently Asked Questions brochure and a new permit application, both of which can be found on the city’s website at www.peachtree-city.org/tree.
Peachtree City CVB Launches New Video

Christmas Tree Recycling – Saturday, January 7
Bring one for the Chipper! Bring your tree (all decorations and tinsel removed, no flocked trees) to the Peachtree City Recycling Center (Rockaway Road at Highway 74 South), the Peachtree City Home Depot, or the Kedron Kroger between 8:30 a.m. and 4:30 p.m. on Saturday, January 7.
FSS Receives $10,000 Grant for Meals on Wheels & Transportation
Fayette Senior Services (FSS) received a $10,000 grant award from Clothes Less Traveled, a not-for-profit thrift shop in Peachtree City. The funds will support FSS’s Meals On Wheels and Transportation programs. FSS delivers nearly 40,000 Meals On Wheels annually to hundreds of Fayette’s seniors. The non-profit organization also provided more than 15,000 transportation trips (including wheelchair assistance) this year to help seniors get to medical appointments, dialysis clinics, rehab, pharmacies, and other essential destinations. Project Updates:
Lake McIntosh – The Fayette County Water System reports that Willow Construction is working on the raw water pump station. Brad Cole, Inc., is working on the construction of the concrete spillway. Construction should be completed April 2012, and the lake will begin filling at that time.
Highway 74 South Construction/Widening – The Georgia Department of Transportation advises that the Highway 74 South construction is nearly complete, with some miscellaneous grading and striping required and work on the traffic signals. The project remains on track for completion by the end of December 2011.

Peachtree City Dog Park Free Admission – Now – New Year’s Day. Everyone is allowed to bring their dogs to park free of charge. The PTC Dog Park, located at 191 McIntosh Tr. behind the BMX Track, is normally a pay-to-use park and is open seven days a week, from dawn until dusk. The park is completely fenced-in and has freeze-proof hydrants to provide water in winter. Dog owners are responsible for picking up after their dogs, and no personal pet toys, food, or treats are allowed. The Dog Park is completely operated and maintained by volunteers working through the PTCDPA. For park rules and more information, please go to www.ptcdogpark.com.
Christmas Holidays – City Offices Closed Friday, December 23 through Monday, December 26. All City Offices will be closed. The PTC Library and Kedron Fieldhouse will be closed December 23 – December 26. The Peachtree City Recycling Center will be closed on Saturday, December 24.
New Years Holiday – City Offices and all City Facilities Closed Monday, January 2. The Peachtree City Recycling Center will be closed on Saturday, December 31. The Library will also be closed on Sunday, January 1.

St. Paul Lutheran School’s Frostbite 5K & 1 Mile Fun Run – Saturday, January 7, 9:00 a.m., at St. Paul Lutheran School, 700 Ardenlee Parkway. Start the New Year off on the right foot at the 6th annual Frostbite. Pre-registration is $20; $25 on race day. Sign up by Dec. 20 to guarantee your long sleeve race T-shirt.
