The Peachtree City Dog Park Association (PTCDPA) is announcing special extended open park hours for the winter holidays.
Because a lot of Fayette County’s college students and their dogs return home for the holidays as well as visiting relatives with their dogs, the PTCDPA is offering free open park days from Thanksgiving Day to New Year’s Day. Everyone is allowed to bring their dogs to park free of charge.
The Peachtree City Dog Park is normally a pay to use park, but the PTCDPA Board of Directors decided to allow the county’s holiday visitors and local residents who may not have experienced the park to give their dogs a holiday treat.
The Dog Park is open seven days a week from dawn until dusk and is located at 191 McIntosh Trail behind the BMX track.
The park is completely fenced-in and has freeze-proof hydrants to provide water in winter. Dog owners are responsible for picking up after their dogs. You are asked not to bring personal pet toys, dog treats or food to the park.
The Dog Park helps make owning a dog become more manageable, providing stimulation and exercise for your pet, decreasing destructive habits and anxiety at home. The park setting aids in developing a well-behaved pet that exhibits a high degree of social ability around dogs and humans.
The Dog Park is completely operated and maintained by volunteers working through the PTCDPA. “Essentially, our volunteers have created one of the best dog parks in our part of the country,” explained PTCDPA President Steve Brown. “Our park is safe, clean, fun and we look forward to a lot of holiday users.”
