The Senoia Area Historical Society is sponsoring two bike riding tours of Senoia on Saturday, May 14, starting at 9:30 a.m. and 1 p.m. These updated, fun and easy tours are for riders of all ages and abilities and are a fund raiser for the Society. Proceeds will be used to preserve and display artifacts for the museum. These are great rides for people interested in the history of the area, interesting architecture, tales of residents past and present, or who just want some Saturday fun.

Cyclists will tour charming Senoia where they will view the varied architecture, hear historical tidbits of the homes and churches in the National Historical District, and more, and learn where numerous films were shot, including Fried Green Tomatoes, The War, Andersonville, Broken Bridges, and The Mighty Temptations.

With 19 additional points of interest, the original tour has been updated and changed to two separate tours, given morning and afternoon. Riders can participate in either or both tours. Each tour will last approximately 2 to 2-1/2 hours. Each tour ends at the Senoia Area Historical Society Museum, where door prizes will be awarded, light refreshments served, and riders can enjoy taking a walk through time. Enjoy Senoia’s restaurants and shopping afterward. Donations are tax deductible.

Helmets are required. Due to frequent stops, walkable cycling shoes are recommended. Riders looking for a longer ride may choose a self-supporting 25, 40, or 50-mile Senoia Southsider route afterward.

Directions: Take GA Highway 85 to Senoia, turn on Seavy Street, and park at the Senoia Children’s Park on the left. Or take GA Highway 16 to Senoia, go south on GA Highway 85, turn left on Seavy Street, and park as indicated.

The number of riders is limited, and space will be held on a first come, first served basis. For more information and to pre-register, email Bonnie Bobbitt at bbbobbitt@yahoo.com.
