The International Mission Teams of Peachtree City United Methodist Church will hold a garage sale Saturday, May 7, from 8 a.m. – noon at Peachtree City United Methodist Church, 225 Robinson Rd. in Peachtree City.

All proceeds will be used by the Liberia, Guatemala, South Africa, and Mozambique Mission Teams for projects, supplies, and travel scholarships.

Twenty people are preparing to go to Liberia in June to continue developing the church’s relationships with the children and adults at the Bishop Judith Craig Children’s Village. The team will work on two main construction projects: adding additional classrooms to the school located at the village to expand it into a full high school and adding a perimeter fence around the village.

Currently high school students must attend a boarding school two hours away and younger children are in danger of wandering into the road that runs by the village.

The team also plans to conduct eye exams and provide eye care for the adults and children of the village, to lead a Vacation Bible School, to visit the church’s sponsored high school students at the Booker Washington Institute, and to develop a vegetable garden and fruit orchard.

The Guatemala team will go to Guatemala City in July. Currently 10 people are registered to go, and there is room for others to join them.

The team will partner with the CCG church members in serving 200 kids breakfast each morning, teaching English classes, working in the church garden, participating in house worship in Guatemalan homes, and a building project.

In the fall a team will go to Mozambique and South Africa. The team will work with a bishop-appointed missionary family, the Sambos, at the United Methodist Seminary in Cambine. The team will also join with a another missionary family from Peachtree City, the Stottlers, in their work with the people of Port Elizabeth.
