Christ Our Shepherd Lutheran Church will start Holy Week services with Sunday of the Passion, on Saturday evening and Sunday morning, April 16-17. The Saturday service will be at 7 p.m.; Sunday services are at 8:30, 10:50, and 11 a.m.
Maundy Thursday, April 21, will be observed at two separate times: at a 12:15 p.m. midday worship service and at a 7 p.m. joint worship with First Presbyterian Church (at COS), featuring a combined choir from both churches. Dr. David Miller will preach.
On Good Friday, April 22, at 4 p.m., the annual Crosswalk from Christ Our Shepherd to Picnic Park will take place.
At 8 p.m. the church will host a Tenebrae Service: “The Seven Last Words of Christ” (Dubois) with Sanctuary Choir and orchestra.
After worship, members will hold a Prayer Vigil until Easter.
On Holy Saturday, April 23, the Vigil of Easter will be observed from 7-8 p.m.
On Easter Sunday, several services are planned. The first will be an 8:15 a.m. worship service in the Fellowship Hall, designed and led by youth, followed by Festival Worship in the sanctuary at 8:30, 10, and 11:15 a.m. A 10:50 a.m. service with GraceFlock (contemporary) Worship also is scheduled.
