Carol C. Abadie passed away peacefully with her family at her side, on Monday, February 21, 2011 in Peachtree City, GA.

She is survived by her husband Ronald and her daughters Shannon Schiltz, Marietta, GA and Melissa DeLoach, Pensacola, FL, as well as her grandchildren Lanie, Katie and Maya Schiltz and Jacob Pettijohn, her parents Joseph and Stella Caracci of Baton Rouge, LA, her brother Ken Caracci of New Waverly TX, her mother-in-law Thelma Abadie and her sister and brother-in-law Rezzie and J.T. Meyer all of Baton Rouge, LA.

Mrs. Abadie was a past Regent of the Fayette-Starr’s Mill Chapter of the Daughters of the American Revolution from May 2007 – April 2009. In addition to her service as an officer, she was an extremely active member and was especially devoted to the DAR Tamassee School for children in Tamassee, SC. She leaves behind many friends and colleagues.

Carol graduated from Baton Rouge High School in 1964, where she was voted a “Belle.” She attended Louisiana State University for 2 years. Once married, she made many cross-country moves with her family, always loving the adventure and making many friends wherever she went.

Most of all, Carol was a devoted wife and mother, centering her life around her family. We will miss her terribly.

We would like to offer special thanks to all the excellent doctors who participated in her care.

There will be a memorial service in Baton Rouge, LA with details to be announced at a later date.

The family asks that memorials can be made in Carol Abadie’s name to the Scleroderma Foundation or the Tamassee DAR School, PO Box 8, Tamassee, SC 29686.
